Khmer ethnic culture festival closes

The seventh Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of Khmer ethnic people in the 12 southern localities wrapped up in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on November 19.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Vuong Phuong Nam said the three-day event has left deep impression on visitors, accomplishing its purpose of promoting the traditional culture of Khmer ethnic people and contribute to building the great national unity.

Themed "Preserve and Promote the Khmer Ethnic Culture to Meet Demand for Sustainable Development of the Country", the festival featured a wide range of activities, including folk games, art and musical performances, costume shows, cuisine and sports competitions.

More than 600 artists were brought together at the festival. Particularly, nearly 300 artists from art troupes in Ca Mau, Soc Trang, Tra Vinh, Hau Giang and Bac Lieu provinces staged special performances at Khmer pagodas.

The eighth Khmer festival is scheduled to be held in Ca Mau province in 2020.-VNA
