Vietnam promotes wetlands conservation
Updated: March 3, 2010

Vietnam has collaborated with Birdlife and IUCN to organise a meeting to respond to World Wetlands Day in Hanoi on Feb. 27. The meeting focused on activities to raise awareness on preserving wetlands to tackle climate change.

In response to the event, localities nationwide have promoted public awareness on the conservation of biodiversity in general and wetlands in particular as a way to deal with climate change.

On November 20, 1989, Vietnam joined the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, also named the Ramsar Convention after the Iranian city where it was adopted in 1971.
